Paul Sutherland is an early career visual artist and exhibition documenter working mainly with video, photography and affective installation. At the core of Sutherland’s practice is an interrogation of ‘documentation’ - he investigates the way ephemeral artworks and experiences can be translated into gallery exhibits or permanent forms. Sutherland’s approach to truth and knowledge draws from phenomenological discourse: throughout his practice, subjective experience is privileged over any attempt at locating an objective reality. Work from his series, "Interrupted Recollection", has won two awards at the Perth Centre for Photography and is kept in multiple private collections. In 2016, he graduated from Curtin University with First Class Honours.
